MEET ERIN

I’m generally someone who likes to help people and be involved in different activities, so I didn’t hesitate to get involved at United Presbyterian Church after becoming a member. Some of my favorite activities at UPC include music, drama, and missions.  I get to tap into my love of music and drama by playing keyboard in one way up, UPC’s praise team, and by taking on roles in the Christmas dramas. Another one of my very favorite activities is missions, and, at UPC, I can serve the church and the community through mission opportunities.

I serve the church by contributing to the worship and arts and mission committees, serving as a deacon, and helping with Vacation Bible School. In addition to serving the church, I also get to serve others in the community through church-sponsored missions. I have really enjoyed our Faith in Action Sunday events at Common Place and the Children’s Home Youth Farm and the young adults’ mission trip to Chicago.

By being involved in activities at the church, I have developed a family here at UPC. This family has been very supportive during the good times and the bad times. I remember, when I was going through a particularly rough time, my UPC family helped me get connected to a Stephen minister, a church member who is trained to provide one-on-one Christian care to congregants. Now that times are good, my Stephen minister and I share a close friendship, and I continue to call on the rest of my UPC family for support and for celebrations. So, when I think about what United Presbyterian Church means to me, I feel that my cup runneth over with enthusiasm and warmth.
