MISSION GIVING

Part of the budget of United Presbyterian Church goes to the Mission Committee.  The committee decides how to apportion that budget to support and conduct mission work locally and globally.  The Mission Committee supports many organizations through monetary donations throughout the year.  Special offerings and gifts of the congregation also support many mission activities.
This year the Mission Committee designates a percentage of the budget to go to missions through the PC(USA) denomination.  This money is used by the presbytery and General Assembly to support missionaries, seminaries, and even mission projects undertaken by local churches.
The Mission Committee also sets aside money in what is called a Pastor Emergency Fund.  This money is used by the pastors at their discretion to help and support those in need who may be members of the congregation or who come to the church looking for help.
The Mission of the Month is a mission organization or project that is selected each month to receive special attention.  Each Mission of the Month receives a donation from the church.
The Mission Committee also supports World Impact each year, provides several gifts and grants through Heifer International, and sponsors a child through the Christian Children’s Fund.
Money is also set aside for member mission grants. Members of UPC who are doing mission projects can request assistance from the church.  Money is also set aside to support the many mission projects UPC sponsors like the Family Christmas Shop and Faith in Action projects.
