The Rev. Dr. Stephen McKinney-Whitaker was ordained in May 2006 and came to United Presbyterian church in May of 2009.
Stephen studied Religious Studies at the University of South Carolina where he won the Mary Dodge Clark Book Award and graduated in 2003. He received his M.Div from Princeton Theological Seminary in 2006 and won the Mary Long Hugh Grier-Davies Prize in preaching. Stephen graduated with a D.Min in 2014 from McCormick Theological Seminary where his thesis, A String for the Pearls: Preaching the Cross as the Common C(h)ord, won the John Randolph Hunt award for outstanding thesis.
Stephen has been the featured preacher on the Day1 Radio broadcast, and has written for The Wittenburg Door, Relevant Magazine, Preaching Online, Lectionary Homiletics, and contributed to the Young Preachers Compilation.
