Sports Fellowship

UPC has an active sports ministry program for all sports enthusiasts, whether you love to just play or watch.  We have regular opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, and softball.  We have special bowling nights and gatherings for frisbee golf, ultimate frisbee, and golf.  We have an Annual Golf Scramble Tournament too.  We also have Fantasy Sports leagues for football and baseball.  Every year we go to a Cubs vs. Cards Baseball game too.  If you have other ideas or activities you would like to do please contact us.

UPC Trap League

UPC began its first ever trap league in 2011 with two teams. Trap shooting consists of shooting with a shotgun one clay pigeon launched in the air in front of you at varying angles. We shoot every first and third Sunday at 2:00 P.M. at Peoria Skeet and Trap April-June, except in the case of inclement weather or other scheduling problems. We track team and individual scores and give out prizes at the end of the season.  We continue to gather to shoot for practice and fellowship on special days throughout the year when the weather is good.  We have participants of all ages and skill levels join us, both men and women.  Anyone is welcome to watch or participate. For more information contact the church office and ask for Pastor Stephen.

Golf Scramble and Banquet

Every September, UPC hosts a Golf Scramble and Banquet.  We divide into foursomes and play a best ball format.  We divide the teams so that they are even with at least one woman.  The banquet features catered food and lots of door prizes.  Even if you don't golf you can just come for the banquet to enjoy food, fellowship, and prizes.

Basketball

United Presbyterian Church is blessed to have a gym in our facility. When there is interest and schedules allow, we open up the gym for pick-up basketball games on the first Sunday of the month at 4:00 PM. These games are open to anyone who would like to join us regardless of age, skill level, gender, or church membership. We often have games with players in junior high up to fifty five. So please join us on the first Sunday of the month at 4:00 pm for basketball.  Any questions can be directed to Stephen at This email address is being protected from spambots. Our gym is also used by a lawyers basketball group on Thursday nights during the winter, and by various leagues, teams, and clinics throughout the year. If you would like to inquire about using the gym, please contact the church office.

Softball

The UPC softball team participates in a co-ed softball league with other Peoria church, and plays on Monday nights all summer long.  This is a co-ed team and individuals of all skill levels are welcome to join us. Several church members come out with chairs to watch the games. It's a great chance for fellowship.  All the games are played at the Northminster Presbyterian Church Field. The team recently won three championships in a row!

Volleyball

During the winter, on the third Sunday of the month UPC has open gym volleyball from 4:00-5:30 pm as schedules and interest permits,.  Everyone is welcome regardless of skill level.  Teams are shuffled after every game so you'll get to meet lots of new people.  Come join us on the third Sunday of the month for pick-up volleyball. If you are interested in volleyball please contact the church office.

Fantasy Sports

UPC has baseball, basketball, and football online fantasy leagues.  Fantasy sports are where you draft or pick players and you get points based on how those players perform.

Fantasy Football sign-ups are in August with a live draft at church in late August. The winner of the Football league gets his or her name on the trophy and gets to keep it for the next year.

Fantasy Basketball begins in late fall and Baseball begins in the spring.  You don't have to know that much about sports to have a great time.  Three out of the top four finishers in last year's football league were new to fantasy sports.  We often go out after church on Sunday to watch the games at a local restaurant that has tv's and NFL Sunday ticket to keep track of our players and just hang out.  If you're interested in fantasy sports please talk to Pastor Stephen.

Bowling Night

The Church Life Committee sponsors an all-church bowling night every winter at Landmark Lanes. We bowl from 4:00-6:00 P.M. and the cost is $8 per person.  The Quest youth group also joins the church for this fun activity.
